Karen Vecchioni is a painter of realism. She fell in love with drawing at an early age, and eventually trained in academic and traditional teaching methods at the school of art and design, The Center for Creative Studies and later Wayne State University, in Michigan. Over the years Karen has continued her training from several workshops in Scottsdale Arizona with well known artists. The study of human anatomy was part of her early formal training in the arts, and is what brought about a love of painting people. Her greatest influences have come from teacher Russell Keeter, from the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of Art, and from studying works by the Russian artist, Nicolia Fechin, John Singer Sargent, Burton Silverman, Richard Schmid, and many of the great masters. Karen's work resides in many private collections in South Carolina, Chicago, Florida, Denver and Michigan. She is currently living and painting in Summerville, South Carolina, outside of Charleston, an area rich in culture, history and scenic inspirations.
